MEGA WAVE PTO Project Showcases Innovations at EWTEC 2025
The MEGA WAVE PTO project is making waves on the international stage at the 16th European Wave and Tidal Energy Conference (EWTEC 2025), held in Madeira, Portugal from 7–11 September.
Henry Jeffrey (University of Edinburgh) will present the project’s Modular Electrical Generator Power Take-Off (PTO) System for Wave Energy, demonstrating the latest advancements in modular PTO technology and its potential to accelerate wave energy deployment.
The presentation is part of the Electrical Generators 1 session on Thursday, 11 September, from 09:00 – 10:40 in Room 2, chaired by Judith Apsley, University of Manchester (view the full programme). This session brings together leading experts to discuss innovative solutions in electrical generation for marine energy.
The MEGA WAVE PTO project is a truly international collaboration, involving partners from across Europe and beyond, including WavEC (Portugal), CGEN Engineering (UK), Supply Design Ltd (UK), TU Crete (Greece), Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna Pisa (Italy), Cheros Engineering (Italy), RWTH Aachen (Germany), Sea Potential (Ireland), Mocean Energy (UK), CETO Wave Energy Ireland Ltd, and Ocean Energy Europe. Together, the team is pushing the boundaries of wave energy technology and modular system design.
Stay tuned for updates from EWTEC 2025, including highlights from Henry Jeffrey’s presentation and insights from the international wave energy community.
